Great News for the Housing Market!

Our good friend Rhonda at InTrust Mortgage had this great news to share:

Hello Everyone, It looks like the tax credit will be extended plus allow a tax credit of $6,500 to homebuyers who are NOT buying for the first time. Further, it also looks like they are going to increase the maximum income levels for both single individuals and married couples. The proposal is not yet finalized. Below is the short news release:

And eyes continue to be on the tax credit extension, which either prolongs the inevitable or helps the housing market to stabilize and recover, depending on how one looks at it. A Senate committee reached a compromise to extend the credit, and also tacked on a $6,500 tax credit for other primary-home purchasers and raised the qualifying income limits to $125,000 for single taxpayers and $225,000 for joint taxpayers. Under the Senate panel compromise, buyers must have sales agreements in hand by April 30, but they will have until June 30 to go to settlement, the sources said. The measure still faces votes in the full Senate and the House.

It's true - ONE MORE DAY!

FUN FACT FROM BEHIND THE SCENES: One of the first orders of business? Checking in hundreds of volunteers, passing out hundreds of blue "Extreme" T-shirts and assembling thousands of hard hats. Each volunteer helped keep inventory under control by washing their volunteer shirt each night and wearing it again the next day. Thanks to everyone for helping us out with the shirts and hats!

TWO more days!!

FUN FACT FROM BEHIND THE SCENES: Says Anne Carrancejie, Cheldan team member, "One incident that didn't go just as planned happened one night... um, morning, around 2 am. I was leaving to catch a few hours sleep and realized I had lost my car keys! I looked everywhere and was afraid they had fallen somewhere and were buried. One of the EMHE security officers made a slim jim and a wedge in the construction tent and opened up my car so I could get my purse and belongings. During this process, my alarm went off a couple times, waking those on-site who were trying to catch a couple hours of sleep themselves. I got a ride home with someone for my extra set and headed back the next day. Sorry to anyone who was woken up by a loud alarm that night!"

WHAT? Only three more days???

FUN FACT FROM BEHIND THE SCENES: One volunteer described an amazing moment when she saw that several of the subcontractors that volunteered were working straight through lunch, wouldn't even stop for snacks and only took water breaks until their particular job was finished. She then saw a Cheldan team member run to the food tent and grab plates full of delicious steak dinners and brought them over to the subcontractors to make them stop and eat.

Ironically, the team member running steaks is a vegetarian.

How you Feelin'? HOT! HOT! HOT!

Sylvia Espinosa-Stanley, Cheldan Team - Austin
FUN FACT FROM BEHIND THE SCENES: Temperatures during the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition project were level red ozone alert HOT. In fact, most days it stayed steady at 103-105 degrees F, and cooled to a balmy 98 degrees F at night with very little breeze. Volunteers learned the first day that rubber-soled shoes wouldn't work. At least 5 people's rubber soles melted into the pavement from the EXTREME heat!

Four More Days!

FUN FACT FROM BEHIND THE SCENES: The Burleson Star erroneously reported that the Marshall home would be built in Burleson, and encouraged Burleson residents to volunteer. Out on the job site, one of Cheldan's Burleson sales consultants met a couple who signed up thinking their assigned work shifts would be close to home in Burleson. Bless them, they still showed up, in good spirits, when they learned the actual location.

Light The Night - Team Nighthawks

Cheldan Homes participated in Light the Night on Sunday night, walking 2 miles through Sundance Square in the rain to pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer. Thousands of participants carried illuminated balloons and our team rasised nearly $3500 in less than a week for this cause. All funds raised are for vital, lifesaving research and patient services.

ONLY 5 MORE DAYS!

Sunday is just around the corner and we are gearing up to see how it all comes together. Don't miss the Marshall Family as they leave their home for a week and come back to a whole new life! Catch all the details at Extreme Cheldan! Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for fun facts and information!
FUN FACT FROM BEHIND THE SCENES: Cops Moving Rocks - it was amazing to see volunteers line up to shuffle rocks to the home. They went up quick! In fact, the hand-off of rocks from one volunteer to another went faster than a forklift could get them to the house in a load. Now that's some heavy lifting!
